Did we learn anything from the COVID lockdowns?

From a conservative view, the lesson was simple: If you give government an inch during a crisis, it will take a mile — and keep it.

Lockdowns proved that government power expands fast, experts contradict themselves, censorship grows in crises, and centralized control fails. 

The people who paid the highest price were small businesses, working‑class families, and children — not the politicians who imposed the rules.
