What a leftist AI and I balanced the budget in one year.
It wasn't easy and yes it would be painful for some at first. So here goes.
- Defense: baseline $1.0T, cut 10% → $0.9T
- Non‑defense baseline: $6.0T
- Flat tax: 12% under $50k / 22% over $50k
- Total revenue (from previous step): $5.548T
1. New non‑defense spending with 23% total cut
23%:6.0T×(1−0.23)=6.0T×0.77=4.62T
- Non‑defense after cuts: $4.62T
- Defense after 10% cut: $0.9T
Total spending:4.62T+0.9T=5.52T
2. Compare to your revenue
- Total revenue (12–22% flat + other taxes): $5.548T
- Total spending: $5.52T
Surplus:5.548T−5.52T=0.028T=28 billion
Social Security and Medicare are the real drivers of long‑term deficits. My plan avoids them.
