Vermont Christian School Banned from Future Sporting Events After Forfeiting Girl’s Basketball Game Against Team with Trans Player

Recently a girls basketball team from a Christian school forfeited a game because the other school  had a boy on their team. A transgender student. But then the state association got involved. What happened next was unbelievable.

The Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA), the governing body for high school sports in the state, released a statement Monday saying Mid Vermont Christian School (MVCS) violated policies and is thus ineligible to participate in future events sanctioned by them.

Here is what the Vermont Agency of Education’s best practices says:

Transgender and gender nonconforming students are to be provided the same opportunities to participate in physical education as are all other students. Generally, students should be permitted to participate in physical education and sports in accordance with the student’s gender identity.

No one was stopping the Transgender student from playing. He should be on a boys team, not a girls. The Christian school is appealing.
