So what's wrong with that? SUNY Chancellor cry's that less Blacks and Latinos will be accepted in colleges.

So what's wrong with that? SUNY Chancellor cry's that less Blacks and Latinos will be accepted in colleges.

SUNY is the New York state college system and it's Chancellor is crying the blues that the colleges will have more white and Asian students. So is the Chancellor saying that the qualified students will be going to college? Here's his take.

I think they’re misrepresenting how the admissions process works. There are policies at Harvard, for example, where students are admitted because they are legacies, because they’re one of multiple generations in their family to go to Harvard. There are students who are admitted because they’re a tuba player. There are students who are admitted because they’re great lacrosse players. And so, there [are] a range of factors as universities try to build a diverse class.”

King also stated that “by removing the tool of race-conscious admissions, the evidence is it results in fewer black and Latino students on campuses.”

What King get's wrong is that if the Legacy student isn't qualified who cares if his Father and Grandfather went to Harvard? If he's a box of rocks, this student doesn't go. And that tuba player can still get a scholarship if the tuba player is talented.
