A state appeals court denied California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s request to stop Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco from seizing more than 600,000 ballots from the 2025 statewide special election after the Republican sheriff claimed voter fraud.

The AG refused to move on this so the sheriff took it upon himself to seize the ballots. Tuesday, March 24, a panel of three appellate judges rejected the request, saying the attorney general "failed to demonstrate he lacks an adequate remedy in the superior court."
