Over the years, I’ve grown disenchanted by the GOP. They’ve had good and bad moments regarding conservatism. Shortly after the rise of the Tea Party, we saw the RINOs in DC take advantage of a lack of cohesion in the movement to effectively disassemble it to oblivion.
But any qualms I have with the GOP’s inability to allow the conservative majority of its base to dictate the party’s direction are infinitesimal compared to existential threat we’re seeing today with the Democratic Party. They’ve become parodies of themselves ever since President Trump won the 2016 election as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” has hit some of them very hard. Others are jumping on the bandwagon by supporting policy proposals that wouldn’t make sense to them if they actually read them, but since the attitude is “orange man bad” among so many Democrats, they’re following the radical progressives blindly.
The 2020 election is more than just a question of Republican versus Democrat or right versus left. It’s a question about the soul of our country, as never before have we been so close to allowing Marxists to hold major power in Washington DC. People like Elizabeth Warren, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Beto O’Rourke, Bernie Sanders, and Ilhan Omar are driving the Democratic Party so far to the left, many of the anti-Trump, anti-GOP, and anti-conservative sheep are embracing policies that are nothing more than intellectual garbage.
They have Medicare-for-All, which would take the failings of Obamacare and triple down on them by inserting single-payer, destroying private health insurance, and turning hospitals into medical variations of the DMV.
They’re pushing for open borders in which there is literally no apprehension or detention of anyone crossing the border illegally. The concept of decriminalizing border breaches destroys our sovereignty and encourages an invasion unlike anything America has ever experienced.
Then there’s the Green New Deal, an economic plan that would force Modern Monetary Theory into the equation while using climate change as a mere backdrop. It has very little to do with the environment and everything to do with destroying our economy, then attempting to rebuild it in the perverse image they have in their heads.
The one unifying theme in all of the radical progressives’ ideas is that if we allow them to have the power, they will take away our Constitutional freedoms. individualist liberties, and God-given rights.
If Democrats have an ounce of success in 2020, this lurch to the left will continue. If we vote them out while keeping conservatives in, Democrats will be forced to rethink their radicalization. This is just as important as keeping the White House, building on the Senate majority, and taking back the House. In many ways, it’s even more important because quashing the rise of Marxism now will prevent it from rearing its ugly head again in near-future elections.
2020 is more than defending conservative ground or making political gains. It must be a statement that we are not a nation that will accept Marxism in any way, not bit by bit and definitely not wholesale as the radical progressives want.
